Last years night gala got canceled half way through because of a huge storm. This year I had to laugh as the sun was shining everywhere else, except for Ethan's school where a dark cloud sat over the swimming pool. It spat a couple drops at us then went away and let Ethan come 2nd in both backstroke and freestyle. Yay Ethan!

This morning Andrea and I met at the gym for a bit of a super circuit. The plan was that I would get home with plenty of time to slowly recover and get ready for work. When I got back to the car there were a couple missed calls and a rather pissed off message saying Ethan had left his swimming things at his dads house - this is a big deal.

Mission code name: Debbie does damage control - have franticly quick shower - throw clothes on - jump into car, ready to race off to the rescue - get stuck in traffic  - get stuck in more traffic - get to a school shop - buy new swimming things with new credit card (ouch) - drop them off at school before 10AM - add a sweet treat to cheer son up - rush to work - run up stairs - sweat like an unattractive pig - pour cup of lifesaving coffee - mission complete.

I have a gym class fear... always worried I won't be able to keep up or even do the exercises they're doing. This year I have promised myself that I will go to classes, and last night was my first one. It said Pilates on the timetable but it wasn't... not quite sure what it was. It reminded me of Jodie Foster in  the movie Nell. A lot of swaying around... but with a gym ball. Was SO much fun - will definately be doing that one again!

I'm SOOOO excited! Just got confirmation of flights and accommodation for the Design Indaba - 4 whole nights in a hotel. Just me. Can jump on bed. Order room service. YAY! (You can tell I don't travel much)

I used to hate going on to my balcony... now it's become my very happy place. My plant still hasn't died (AMAZING) and the Basil herb Ethan planted a little while ago is doing well. Nice.

Was sitting at Discovery's canteen having lunch when the weather changed and went all dark and I felt like I was about to faint - and Karen found it hard to breathe. End of the world I tell you! I am now downing vitamin water trying to recover.

PS. My camera takes such nice sharp photos - LOVE IT!

Yip. It's back to "normal life" now which includes less partying and more checking of homework and cleaning fish tanks. Fun!

I have decided to be stricter with Ethan this year, Grade 4 is serious stuff. Made him redo his homework when we got home (half of it was wrong). The amazing thing was that he was totally OK with it... the pic of him looking like he's mad at me and crying is a joke!

Managed to crawl out of bed in time to take Charlene to the airport. Look how big her bag is!! Thank goodness I got a new car, would never have fitted that thing in the little frog!


Then spent the afternoon being a tourist at the Rosebank flea market.

The plan for today was to lie in bed all day recovering from the night before. I then received a phone call with the person on the other end reminding me of something I said the night before. I was going on and on about how this year I was going to jump at every opportunity that came my way. Well, he caught me going back on my word... so I hoped into the shower, got dressed and went off to Andrea's braai. I was having such a good time that I forgot to take lots of photos... oops

Lost my gym lock. Bought a new one. Spent 15 minutes battling to open it. Water bottle fell, exploded and wet me all over. Spent next 10 minutes drying my clothes with a hairdryer. Got into the gym. Felt intimidated by the masses surrounding me. Did 15 minutes on bike (only machine available). Almost died. Strolled over and did the super circuit. Almost died. Did 10 minutes cool down walk. Stretched. Finally made it to the Sauna - bliss!

I was so happy by the time I left that I even woke up early this morning to do it all over again! Oh, and had this delicious fruit salad as a reward.

I bought these two lunch boxes from Woolies for Ethan and myself... think they're very cute. Hopefully this will inspire me to bring packed lunches to work insteading of wasting money on bought food!

I was lucky enough to get flown to Cape Town for work. I left early Monday morning and managed to spend the day with Tori, The Hoff and their two gorgeous boys!
