09.08.2011 - Happy Womens / Dad's Birth Day!
Not only was it Womens Day, it was also my dads birthday! So we had the family over for a yummy lunch celebration. The kids helped me make a spinach lasagna for lunch and some red velvet cupcakes for dessert. It was amazingly tasty!
PS. Talking about birthdays and parties - the other day Ethan and I went to Cresta and saw that Showbiz has been revamped - looks really nice and they have great costumes for fancy dress parties!
08.08.2011 - 12h30 - Lunchtime entertainment
Ethan's school is incredibly cheeky... if there's a public holiday on the Tuesday or Thursday they take the Monday or Friday off as well! So, I had to bring Ethan in to work with me. He gets to play on the computer but still gets pretty bored. So after a bit of lunch we found a little entertainment for him. Fun. Back to work now.
06.08.2011 - 19h30 - Old people's night out
Ethan was sleeping over at a friends house so I had the night off. Karen and I decided to do something. The plan was: Eat sushi, drink wine, watch a DVD and then GO OUT for a drink or two. The night went like this: Eat sushi, drink wine, watch a DVD, wrap warm blankets around ourselves, read a book, play with iPad... we're getting so bloody old and boring!
05.08.2011 - 19h00 - Spiceburg date
Ethan did REALLY well on his SS test - 83%!! so I took him for a night out with myself and Karen. We went to Spiceburg's in Greenside. Ethan LOVED the food... it's always so delicious... I didn't take my camera out this time as I didn't want him thinking I was a food critic again.
04.08.2011 - 07h45 - Running program
I recently started a running program - run 10km in 12 weeks... I'm on week 3. Although I'm very impressed with myself for even making it to week 3 I still have no idea how I'm ever going to be fit enough to run a 10km race! I can barely complete the 4 minute run I have to do now. Yesterdays training was: 10 minute warm up then 4 minute run - 2 minute walk x 4.
I'm just taking each day as it comes and hoping the fitness will reveal itself to me one of these days, eventually.
PS. This animation makes me look like I run on one leg - I don't
03.08.2011 - 13h05 - Wednesday Lunch
I turned my Beleaf salad into a warm pasta meal for today's lunch. It consisted of: 3 bean salad, chickpeas, salsa (peppers, tomatoes, onions, lemon juice), pepper dews, pasta and a dash of sweet chilly sauce.
The 3 bean salad has been soaking in olive oil and balsamic vinegar for the past 2 days so biting into them releases a pool of deliciousness. I enjoyed this baby so much I wanted to cry when it was finished. D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!!
01.08.2011 - 15h12 - Nipple alert!
Thanks to Jenny, we just discovered why we kept getting picked up last Friday night - Karen was flashing her little fury black nipples at all the men. Nice Karen!
01.08.2011 - 14h31 - Cross Processing
Andrea's FB profile pic is beautiful - she just discovered cross processing - I found this link which I thought was an easier tutorial to follow.
Look how amazing this effect is...

01.08.2011 - 12h26 - Beleaf salad
As a treat I like to go to Beleaf - which is just up the road from my work. I've invented a winning salad... brown rice, bean salad, salsa, rocket, avo and balsamic dressing. But it's R32 a small salad so it really can only be a treat for me. Problem is I'm a little addicted to it. So this weekend I went to Pick 'n Pay and bought the ingredients. I made my own Beleaf salad... it's not as yummy as my avo isn't ripe... and it's swimming in a pool of balsamic vinegar but I'm still really happy with it. Yay me!
31.07.2011 - 11h00 - Jerry Springer Sunday
OK... was thinking of not writing this one (I don't like writing about negative things)... but that would be cheating because well, this was a day in my life...
What I discovered about myself this Sunday: I can be white trash when I want to be!
My sister's birthday was on Friday. My mom and I were going to do a little lunch for my sister and her two kids. Things didn't work out as planned. I went over to my parents house at around 11am after a frantic call from my mom. They were fighting. My sister was screaming at her and behaving badly. She tried to go for my mom, I grabbed her and pulled her away. She slapped me and I lost it - it was a scene straight out of a Jerry Springer show. Not pretty!
Anyway, after she left my mom and I carried on with our plans (excluding the birthday lunch). Tracy's son Jared wanted to stay with his dad but her daughter Sarah came with my mom and I back to my place. We sat on the sunny balcony eating pizza, chatting and doing girly things. I gave her a little hair treatment which she loved - was all very cute.
The three of us then took Toby for his walk. We got a little lost but it was fun.
What started out as a terrible day turned out to be a lovely in the end. Thanks to my mom and Sarah xoox

30.07.2011 - 14h45 - Movie with mom
I went to watch Larry Crowne with my mom. We love doing the chick-flick thing. This movie wasn't a fantastic award winning movie but it was a sweet... and I have a huge girl crush on Julia Roberts! It was also cute seeing Julia and Tom together - an unusual love match.
29.07.2011 - 20h00 - Guilty Friday
What I discovered about myself this Friday night: I can be a huge bitch!
I haven't gone out with Karen in ages - she's been in Bali. So, I was really looking forward to a catch-up. We went to a cute little Italian restaurant in Linden. We stuffed our faces with pizza and shared a liter of Sangria. Was a lovely evening. We then decided to go for a drink - we found ourselves at the Jolly Roger.
We went to the bar to get a drink. There was a man ordering drinks - he was wearing a black leather jacket and playing air guitar (??!!). He invited us to join him and his friend at their table. We said maybe. He came back about 10 minutes later when we didn't go and invited us again. Again we said that we're just having a catch-up, maybe later. (I felt bad but really didn't want to join their table - then I felt angry that I felt bad - I didn't ask him to come over!! arrgghh)
We found our own table in another corner. We were having a great chat when a man sat down and said "Hi, my name's Andrew, and I'm from the future". Well, we'd just been discussing how we need to be more open and less judgmental, (and we'd had a couple drinks so were probably in a friendlier mood) so we let him stay. He was very sweet.
At the end of the night, after all his friends had left he wanted us to go with him for another drink in Greenside. We weren't too sure... it's was 2am! Anyway, here's the bitchy party... we said ok but by the time we got to our cars (he was parked on the other end of the road) we decided it wouldn't be a good idea... so we went home.
At the time I didn't feel too bad but by the time I arrived home I was wracked with guilt. Andrew, from the future (if you are from the future you would have seen this coming buddy) I am truly sorry!!!!!
Like Karen says, next time we stay in and play scrabble - easier!
