23.07.2011 - Randburg Soccer
11h45 Take Ethan to Randburg soccer club. Leave him to warm up with his team while I go across the road to gym. Do day 3 of the running program. Walk back to soccer club. Meet my dad, sister, Jared and Sarah. Sit down to watch the game. Look at referee... look again at referee. Ref looks familiar. OMG it's Darren!
Now... back when I was around 16 I had a group of friends. The one, Bronwyn, had a brother who a couple of her friends fancied. So did I - this caused major problems back then!
I found it VERY funny that my little shy 16 year old self would never have imagined that this man she fancied would one day be refereeing her 10 year old sons soccer match. Funny world (well, it's funny in my head anyway)!

Our latest issue just arrived on my desk. There was a small hiccup on the cover whilst I was away camping but thanks to Adele (Your Baby AD) and Jen it all worked out fine - I was nervous anyway... until it arrived. I REALLY love it! Here are a couple of my favorite pages:

Ethan and I went along with my parents to the Pilanesberg game reserve for a mini winter camping holiday. I though we were mad and would die from cold but it was surprisingly not that bad! I can't take credit for these photos - Ethan was in charge of the camera and took 90% of the pics.
10.07.2011 - Oil skating & Dog walking
My mom and I took Jared and Sarah to Fourways mall to go and do some free ice skating. I decided to join them but it was really hard - there was no ice - was more like plastic covered in oil. I was doing really well until right at the end when I raced Jared and fell flat on my ass infront of everyone!!
After that we took Toby for a walk at Delta - have decided this will be a Sunday thing.

What do you do when you need and illustration for the mag but don't know how to draw? You find an image of a person doing the stretch on google images - print it out - fold paper in half - hold up to bright computer screen - and trace baby - trace!

So... as kids we used to play this game whenever we went to a game reserve. Not sure who came up with it BUT it would perhaps explain my chocolate addiction - maybe?
It's simple... the first to spot one of the Big 5 gets the chocolate assigned to that animal. You try and find as many as possible then at the end of the hunt you go to the little store and get the chocolates. Nice!

Today I popped in to our cover shoot and smiled when I saw that the stylist, art director and model were all gingers. YAY!
I then decided to go through our mags to see how many red heads I've managed to sneak into our mag... you see, I have this game called "sneak a giner past Jen" - it's lots of fun!!... I have another one I'm tying to get into this issue so shhhhhhhh

My mom and I went to watch Bridesmaids in Rosebank... was hysterical! You NEED to watch it!!
We then met my dad for pizza and sangria. Nice! And a stroll around the flea market where I found these pretty earring for only R50! And... I was told that if I loose one of them (which women tend to do after a couple drinks!) I can come back for a free one... nice.

Started at Wolves - we didn't feel it - moved over to Jolly - loved it - stopped off at garage for snacks - went to bob rocks - not feeling it. Conclusion stick to dodgy places with old men - makes you feel younger!

What do you do when you need to take a couple product shots and there's no photographer around? You make a little infinity curve background on your desk with paper and prestick and shoot them yourself. Nice!
01.07.2011 - 12h56 - Sweet hair
Yesterday I went to Fourways mall for a FREE haircut. The lady there is an apprentice so she's doing hair free for a year. Some people think I'm mad trusting someone who's still learning to cut my hair BUT it's brilliant because they REALLY make sure they do a good job cos they're trying to impress their potential future boss.
Anyway, these are the only 2 comments I've gotten: 1) "You're hair actually looks good" 2) "It's so sweet!" haha, sweet is as bad as nice! Oh well...
30.06.2011 - Spiceburg Restaurant in Greenside
Karen and I went to Spiceburg in Greenside for dinner. This is the second time I've been and I've LOVED their food both times. They also have such a wide variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes which is fantastic.
The owner / manager came over to help us decipher the menu and find something delicious to eat. He then asked us if he could bring us a surprise starter that he claims gets people to come back for more. We had no idea what it was so when Karen took her first bite and had a strange look on her face I thought it was because it tasted horrible. But, the look on her face was a result of the starter having a very prawn texture / taste. It was AMAZINGLY delicious! It's called Pepper Gobi which is the softest cauliflower battered, deep friend and covered in spices. Highly recommended!
I only remembered to take out my camera after we polished off the starter so Karen told the manager that I have a blog and wanted to photograph the food, so he rushed off and bought me someone else's plate to photograph. He then began asking me names of food critics and all I could do was sit there, smile and shake my head.
Anyway, I may not be a food critic but I can say that the entire meal was divine and I think everyone should go and try Spiceburg's!
We then went nextdoor to Bob Rocks for a drink - bumped into Karen's brother. I thought they looked too adorbable in their jerseys! Very cute Wentzels!
