17/11 Wednesday - 07h30 - Movember Madness
I've been trying really hard to grow my tash since Movember began, but like my underarms, I struggle to get the hair to sprout. But I persevered and I think it's looking pretty good! It's even long enough to style now! Ethan got jealous and wanted one of his own but obviously he's too young for facial hair so he had to make do with chewing gum. Nice!
15/11 Monday - 16h00
Look how incredibly pretty this swimming costume is! I think I might have a costume fetish - it's from Country Road
15/11 Monday - 09h00
Working at Your Pregnancy magazine I have the pleasure of searching the web for beautiful stock photos. Every now and then I stumble across real beauties...
The fun loving cannibal
The sweet pregnant gay couple
Bob the Builder with his pregnant wife
The photographer who adds sparkles, snowflakes and stars - makes this little boy getting his 12 year old gf knocked up seem...well...not so bad...
The couple who need to get a room
My all time favorite – the salami and sausage smiley face. Nice!
15/11 Monday - 07h45
This weekend was a quiet, thoughtful, broke one. Didn't do that much so am squashing it onto one post.
Ethan and I went to watch a movie at Hyde Park Saturday afternoon then walked around Dion Wired - so many nice toys there! There's even this amazing interactive game that he played - you just stand in front of it and it sees you (like Wii but without the control) - what an amazing time to be a kid!
Ethan wanted an iPod for Christmas so I convinced him to settle for the shuffle which is R500. Then when we got home I remembered the shuffle I got for one of my birthdays. I thought it was broken as it got full of sea sand when I went to CT - but I charged it and ta-da it works! So Ethan gets a bright pink iPod shuffle (he's really happy) and it didn't cost me a cent. Nice!
We also entertained ourselves with board games. Played Spelldown which is the same as scrabble. The other night I made a joke to some friends that I can only come up with 4 letter words. Turns out it was no joke - that's the best I can do, it's embarrassing!
12/11 Friday - 14h00
I'm going with Andrea to get my hair done in Pretoria again soon... am thinking of going blonde and shorter...
11/11 Thursday - 16h00
I'm travelling a little back in time... forgot to mention that on the way home yesterday I popped by my dads work to see what he gets up to. He works at Toguna photographing all their African artifacts to then be put on on their website. It's a beautiful building just off Jan Smuts Avenue. They have such beautiful things there and not really that expensive - not sure how I would feel working day in and day out surrounded by some of their horned, sharp toothed African masks!
12/11 Friday - 12h30 - Girl with red purse buys drinks
On the way to be-leaf Karen, Andrea and I slowed down and began to drool over the ice cold cocktails that were being served at News Cafe. We ditched a healthy salad for virgin cocktails and avo & haloumi wraps - perfect way to spend Fat Food Friday! Thanks ladies xoox
11/11 Thursday - 19h00 - Wolves
Last night Karen and I went to Wolves in Illovo. There was a band playing called Reverend Wright & The Mystery Train Gamblers - they are AWESOME! I'm not good with music so the only way I can describe their style is C-U-T-E! Music that you can tap your toes to and shake your little bootie to... If I ever get married one day I want them to be my band. The main guy sings and plays what looks like a giant guitar that stands upright (no idea what it's called) - H.O.T! I landed up taking hardly any pics as I was too busy drinking my Savannah and watching him tap his instrument...
Anyway, had a really lovely time. YAY :)
10/11 Wednesday - 15h00
The school called early yesterday and I rushed off to fetch Ethan. He has been complaining of a sore eye. Took his to the doctor and they say they think it's allergies. Hmmm
Anyway, we had time to kill so decided to show Ethan my newly aquired Domio skills. He was bored so it didn't last very long :(
PS. I'm trying to learn to do something new every couple of days... Domino's is the first
09/11 Tuesday - 19h00 - Dinner
Later in the evening Ethan and I were watching Masterchef Australia. We love it. Anyway it seems to have gotten Ethan's creative cooking juices flowing as he asked if he could make up dessert. I made us dinner (sweet and sour veg stirfry)... washed up the dishes and gave him free reign of the kitchen, with one condition - he cleans up any mess he makes...
This was the first thing served to me. It consisted of... Ice cream, green food colouring, fried banana and peanut butter. It was frighteningly delish! If I were to score it out of 10, I'd give it an 8 for taste but a 5 for presentation.
This was the second dessert for the night. Looks yum but he put it the microwave and burnt the chomp chocolate. I have never eaten burnt chocolate before, revolting. This one looked scrumptious so will give it a 8 for presentation but a 2 for taste.
This was the mess. I was very, very tempted to get in there and help clean it but I didn't. I sat my lazy ass on the couch while Ethan cleaned his mess - he even mopped the floor! Thanks Masterchef!
09/11 Tuesday - 17h00 - Bargain Hunting
On the way home Ethan and I stopped at this little second hand store... I found this little side table for R49! I just need to decide if I'm going to stain in darker or paint it white... Now my friends have somewhere to put their wine glass when they come over! I also saw a red mountain bike there for R800 which I really, really want.
09/11 Tuesday - 07h30
Ethan's teacher did something the other day that I think is just wonderful. She got all the kids to write their name at the top of a blank A4 piece of paper. They then all had to pass the paper around the class and everyone got to write something nice about that person.
These are some of the things the kids wrote about Ethan..
1. Ethan is so quiet and nice
2. He is cool
3. Is funny
4. Ethan, you are a very sweet young guy (teacher)
5. I think he is very nice to people
6. He is nice
7. He can make jokes
8. He is funny everyday
9. He is so nice to me (this one suprised me - it's def. a girls handwriting... what!?)
10. Very good at soccer
11. You laugh a lot
12. You strong
It goes on...very sweet!
09/11 Tuesday - 04h30
We did it again! And this time not only did we drag ourselves out of bed at 04h30 but we did it in the rain noegal! And it was wonderful! You're so doped up on endorphins when you get back from the gym that everything seems wonderful and beautiful, the air smells fresher, the birds sound chirpier and the flowers look prettier. (Ethan was in charge of the camera this morning...)
08/11 Monday - 19h00
I'm a very happy mom. Ethan picked these beautiful flowers for me whilst digging for bugs (I think he has a real natural talent for flower arranging!)
We're trying to watch less TV and play more games so we dug out these playing cards - they're from Iceland, they're the 13 santas. 13 days before Christmas they start arriving one by one - their mission - to cause havoc. For example, there's Bowl Licker, he finds bowls that have been left unattended and finishes all the food in them. Very funny tradition...
08/11 Monday - 08h00 - Prank
Yesterday I received a FB email... long mail from some guy named "Andrew Freeman" from California, in JHB wanting to meet for a drink... now, his profile is completely blank which makes me think someone out there is trying to prank me. If it's you, I think you're a total ASS!!!
08/11 Monday - 04h30
We did it! Last night at gym we discovered that they open at 4am... so we said we'd try get up at 4.30 and go. I tried to get out of it this morning but Ethan convinced me to go... and it was AWESOME! I think I might crash come 2pm... but it was worth it. I managed to run for 15 minutes straight this time (which this couch potato ex-smoker is very proud of).
